The central focus of the conference was the systematic reuse of texts and images in the Middle Ages. The examination of this theme resulted in the present fascinating series of articles.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. In 1898 at a London auction, the art collector Fritz Mayer van der Bergh bought a breviary that has since come to be considered one of the most luxurious of its kind. A lay breviary designed for use by the highest social circles, it was created around 1500 in the Netherlands, probably for a member of…the Portuguese royal house. The 706 hand-illuminated vellum folios contain more than eighty splendid miniatures as well as numerous illustrated borders and decorated initials. They are attributed to a number of artists who were active in Ghent and Bruges, including the anonymous Maximilian Master and his associates. 2004 edition. Condition: Dustjacket creased, yellowed, scratched and marked, head of spine very slightly torn; boards shelfworn and corner bumped. Foreedges marked, pages clean and readable and binding tight.
