Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Meticulous reproduction of rare portfolio (1925-30) contains over 700 dazzling designs and motifs for buckles, clips, belts, mirrors, pendants, cigarette cases, rings, chains, necklaces, watchbands, brooches, studs, and charms. Through the peak period of Art Deco creativity in the 1920s, many artists and studios produced portfolios of original designs for commercial use. Often these original works went unsigned and, after inspiring their limited, exclusive audience, disappeared. Here is one such portfolio (most likely French or German, 1925-30) recently rediscovered and now reproduced as an original and probably unique document of the Art Deco years. Over 800 royalty-free jewelry designs and motifs dazzle with Art Deco invention: buckles, buttons, clips, belts, mirrors, pendants, cigarette cases, rings, chains, necklaces, watchbands, brooches, studs, clusters of intricate, delicate, sharp-edged Art Deco charms, many graced with the too-often forgotten humor and wit lying just beneath the geometry. Jewelry designers, collectors of Art Deco, and period specialists will find equal amounts of inspiration and aesthetic delight in this rare, precisely executed collection of fresh, authentic Art Deco design, now rescued from oblivion. Artists, designers, and crafters will find it a valuable Art Deco treasury. Meticulous reproduction of rare portfolio (1925-30) contains over 700 dazzling designs and motifs for buckles, clips, belts, mirrors, pendants, cigarette cases, rings, chains, necklaces, watchbands, brooches, studs, and charms. Cartonato. Condition: new. English Text. Torino, 2022; hardback, pp. 224, 255 b/w and col. ill., cm 26,8x35,3. Deboni, Franco Editore: Umberto Allemandi (2007) ISBN 10: 8842215244 ISBN 13: 9788842215240 Nuovi/Rilegati Quantità: 1 Prezzo: EUR 325,00 Descrizione libro: Umberto Allemandi, 2007. Condizione libro: new. English text. Preface by Pierre Rosenberg. Torino, 2007; 2 voll., clothbound in a case, pp. 512, b/w col. ill., 385 col. plates, cm 25x34. (Archivi di Arti Decorative). The enormous success enjoyed by Venini design helped arouse international interest in Venetian glass. New techniques and models, impossible to imitate, contributed to the evolution of the decorative arts from the rank of crafts to that of art and placed Venini artworks among the highest artistic expressions of our times One of the most important changes during the 20th century was the evolution of the decorative arts from the rank of crafts to that of art: glass, today, has duly earned its place in museums, markets and the public opinion. The extraordinary inventiveness between the end of the 1940s and throughout the 1950s, together with the enormous success enjoyed by Venini design, helped arouse international interest in Venetian glass.New techniques, impossible to imitate, risked consigning the firm's earlier production (from 1925 to the Second World War) undeservingly to the shadows while they placed Venini artworks among the highest artistic expressions of our times. The much awaited reprint of the last edition of the catalogue raisonné has been enlarged with a section on lighting (lamps and chandeliers), a Dictionary of artists, the Red Catalogue, the Green Catalogue and the extended Blue Catalogue (doubled compared to the earlier edition). These three catalogues contain all the reproductions of Venini items as distributed in shops; the most important pieces are grouped together on a scale of 1:10, in chronological order, accompanied by notes on the technique and materials used (blown, pulegosi, pietra dura, in corpo, flowers and fruit, lattimi, a mezza filigrana, a bollicine, sommersi, pesanti, diamante, corrosi, frames, a treccia, clocks, a rilievi, handles and ash trays). Since these catalogues are not for sale, they have become extremely rare, but indispensable for the historical and technical information they contain.Language : English text - Coll.
