Tiene dos neurinomas (en ojo y oido), un tumor mamario y otro en la hipofisis, trombos y derrames cerebrales, ademas del terrible Sudeck. Fruto de esta enfermedad limitante es su libro Mis bendiciones, una obra escrita desde el corazon y para el mundo. Un texto para todos, porque cualquiera puede verse, de la noche a la manana, en su situacion, y sin previo aviso. Desde el corazon y la resignacion escribe Luis estas odas; una resignacion adulta que ilumina su situacion con otros ojos: los del alma. Esta es una obra estad?stica resultado de una empresa acometida por Felipe II en Espa?a que pretend?a ofrecer una descripci…?n detallada de todos los asentamientos poblacionales de los reinos bajo su mandato. No obstante, se conocen tambi?n por otros nombres, como el dado por el Padre Migu?lez, en su obra La ciudad de Dios (1915), que las llama Relaciones hist?rico-geogr?ficas de los pueblos de Espa?a.Esta es una obra de siete tomos (seis para los pueblos y ciudades, y el s?ptimo monogr?fico sobre la ciudad de Toledo), cuyo original est? depositado en la biblioteca del Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, si bien hay una copia en la Real Academia de la Historia. La obra tiene una estructura de cuestionario prefijado con interrogantes o como ellos dicen cap?tulos son en referencia a aspectos sociol?gicos, demogr?ficos, geogr?ficos, estrat?gicos y econ?micos de cada localidad, cuestionario al que una delegaci?n de hombres viejos, sabios o letrados de cada lugar hab?a de responder con la mayor abundancia posible. El prop?sito de la misma era, muy en la l?nea de control burocr?tico exhaustivo de Felipe II, tener un conocimiento profuso de cada lugar del reino. A t?tulo anecd?tico cabe rese?ar que en la obra manuscrita hay media docena de dibujos de mapas, escudos o elementos destacables que el escribano o alguno de los testigos crey? pertinente plasmar de forma gr?fica.Es muy probable que la idea original de acometer tal obra llegase a leerla Felipe II as? como los escritos de la Descripci?n y cosmograf?a de Espa?a, obra de Fernando Col?n in?dita pero que a trav?s de varias manos acab? siendo incluida en la obra de Pedro de Medina y Flori?n de Ocampo de t?tulo Grandezas de Espa?a, que vio la imprenta en Sevilla en 1548 y en Alcal? en 1566.Esta obra quiere acercar al gran p?blico el resultado de este censo desarrollado como si fuera una historia meti?ndonos de lleno en la vida durante al siglo XVI. Aunque si se cree que a su Majestad se la leyeron, ya que lo que el quer?a saber era m?s que conocer la poblaci?n que vivia en su dominio, la econom?a que generaba para ajustar los tributos que ten?an que aportar.A?n representando s?lo una porci?n peque?a de poblaci?n de la Espa?a de la ?poca, lo cierto es que tienen un incalculable valor para tomar conciencia de la realidad espa?ola de finales del siglo XVI.
