Edizione originale, rara, di questaÂlettera sui laghi di Como e di Lugano scritta dal marchese Giovanni Battista De Capitani,… ad uso del forestiere. L'A. fu vicebibliotecario della Braidense dopo che il Gabinetto numismatico milanese, da lui diretto per 14 anni,Âfu assorbito dalla stessa Braidense nel 1864. Nel libro vi e' anche una disamina linguistica della toponomastica di origine greca e latina: "Ma non pur de' nomi greci all'orecchio ti soneranno, ma dei latini ancora. Bellagio era detto da coloro che noi chiamiamo antichi Bilaco o Bilacio o Bislacio, voce che appalesava la sua situazione la' dove appunto il lago in due rami si parte e forma cosi' li due laghi di Como e Lecco.". Citati poi vari paesi fra i quali Argegno, Colono, Sala, Spurano e Campo, "paeselli brillanti di una viva e carissima luce", ma "da Lazzeno in avanti questa costa destra di lago e' una cosa fredda e morta e di una sola tinta fino a S.
