Davison was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, studied at Princeton, Oxford, and Johns Hopkins. - Inscription from the editor is to Dr. Charles Takeo Ozaki, born in Florida, and one of the University of Florida's College of Medicine's first graduates and the college's first Japanese-American graduate; son of first generation Japanese immigrants; in World War II he served in the U.S. Army's distinguished 442nd Regiment. His son went on to become a leading vascular surgeon. The book is a material document of the tremendous value of immigration into the US across the last century.
