Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Delve into the intricate mysteries of the human brain with "The Brain" by Walter Edward Dandy, a presumed 1st edition published by W. F. Prior in 1966. This captivating hardcover edition features cadet blue cloth-covered boards adorned with gold lettering on the front an…d spine, adding to its visual appeal. In Very Good- condition, the covers are remarkably well-preserved. However, a former owner's name is printed on the front edge of the text block, adding a touch of history to this edition. The binding is slightly rolled backward and exhibits a little give, though all the pages remain intact, promising an uninterrupted reading experience. An inscription and abrasion on the front flyleaf add a sense of character to this vintage edition. Despite these minor flaws, the interior pages are clean and unmarked, preserving the book's captivating content. To ensure its safe delivery, the book will be carefully packaged for shipment, providing protection from the elements. As part of our commitment to excellent service, a USPS electronic tracking number will be issued free of charge, allowing you to monitor the progress of your shipment. For those seeking more information or pictures of this exceptional edition, please don't hesitate to contact me. "The Brain" offers a fascinating journey into one of the most enigmatic organs of the human body, making it an engaging read for medical enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by the complexities of the mind.

He is considered one of the founding fathers of neurosurgery, and is credited with numerous neurosurgical discoveries and innovations, including the description of the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, surgical treatment of hydrocephalus, the invention of air ventriculography and many others. During his 40-year medical career, Dandy published five books and more than 160 peer-reviewed articles while conducting a full-time, ground-breaking neurosurgical practice in which he performed during his peak years about 1000 operations per year. He was recognized at the time as a remarkably fast and particularly dexterous surgeon. Dandy was associated with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Hospital his entire medical career. The importance of his numerous contributions to neurosurgery in particular and to medicine in general has increased as the field of neurosurgery has evolved. 1414083. Special Collections - Upstairs.
