The gas in the two cylinders can flow freely between them and remains a single body. This configuration produces a lower compression ratio but is mechanically simpler and often used in multi cylinder Stirling engines. A single power piston, gamma-configuration, low-temperature differential Stirling engine is design, develop and tested with air by using a gas burner as a heat source.
