The show highlights American artists whose paintings, sculptures, and photographs the Broads have acquired in depth, among them Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Cindy Sherman, and Cy Twombly, Johns, Koons, and the Los Angeles artists John Baldessari, Sharon Lockhart, Charles Ray, Ed Ruscha, and Robert Therrien. German artists such as George Baselitz and Anselm Kiefer are also represented. Together, these works form an invaluable record of the artistic achievements of the past forty years." "This catalogue, published in conjunction with the exhibition, illustrates the objects in the exhibition as well as several related works from the Broad collections. The accompanying texts include an interview with Eli and Edythe Broad by exhibition curators Stephanie Barron and Lynn Zelevansky, as well as essays by art historians Thomas Crow, Sabine Eckmann, Joanne Heyler, and Pepe Karmel, which place the works in critical and historical context." - Publisher. *** CONTENTS: Building a collection and more: talking with Eli and Edythe L. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Written in the Scars is a true account of what's left behind when the life you built begins to crumble - and of what slowly, stubbornly rises from those broken places when you refuse to disappear inside the pain. In this haunting and beautiful memoir, J. Lynn Crow guides the reader through t…he quiet aftermath of betrayal, grief, childhood trauma, and the slow unraveling of self. Told in spare, lyrical prose and grounded in a voice that never begs for sympathy, the story unfolds not as a cry for rescue, but as a testament to what it means to return to yourself, piece by sacred piece. There are no tidy endings here. No promises that healing arrives on schedule. She doesn't try to teach or preach; instead, she offers something far more generous: presence. Page after page, she stays with the reader in the quiet places most of us try to avoid. And in doing so, she makes room for something rare: the possibility that what breaks us can also reveal us. This isn't a memoir about redemption in the traditional sense. It's about what remains after the collapse - the breathless, trembling moment when you realize you're still here, and that here can become something new. Written in the Scars is for anyone who has ever felt invisible inside their own story. It's for the ones who kept going when no one clapped, who put themselves back together without applause, and who now carry a strength the world doesn't always see. Written in the Scars is a personal account of living through trauma and slowly finding a way back to oneself. It's a quiet, honest story about what pain takes and what it leaves behind if you're willing to sit with it long enough. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. This study analyzed the beliefs, attitudes, and practices of California's community college Chief Executive Officers (CEOs or presidents) as they relate to the multiple missions of community colleges and, specifically, the importance, and success of the transfer mission, compared to public d…ata measuring student success, especially transfer rates. Correspondingly, this study attempted to appropriately define and prioritize the fundamental role of the California Community Colleges in increasing the number of students transferring to four-year institutions and to reveal any misalignments in both resources and attitudes relating to the transfer mission. This study sought to understand what, if any, emphasis is placed on the transfer mission at California community colleges and the ways CEOs balance the multiple missions of community colleges and address the open access policies that guide student admission and matriculation. Do the attitudes of CEOs at each college reflect a commitment to improving transfer rates? What is the primary mission of the CCCs-transfer or a balance among all of the missions? Within the context of many missions, do community college CEOs attempt to balance those missions and the associated resources to accomplish the goals for all students? State policymakers need to understand how the transfer mission works at the college level to guide their decisions at a state level. By discovering answers to these fundamental questions, this study may help to inform and influence potential changes in state policy. This item is printed on demand.
