Wrappers toned and soiled with a faint tide mark at upper fore-corner of front cover; small…marks and a few spots to both covers; light edge wear. Pencil notations to front wrapper head including "D13 Dup." and "1934". Staple rust with minor bleed at the gutter. Pencil underlining and marginalia within. Text clean and legible overall; inner hinge sound; no loss to text. A solid copy of a fragile, cheaply produced pamphlet seldom found surviving. ---. First edition, as issued (no later edition traced). CPGB critique of the Incitement to Disaffection Bill, denouncing expanded police powers, right of search, possession offences, and the threat to printers, publishers and booksellers. A significant interwar civil liberties item from the anti-fascist left. Issued during parliamentary debate on the Bill that would become the Incitement to Disaffection Act 1934. A good primary source for British free speech and policing debates between the wars, and for CPGB publishing and the Workers' Bookshops network. First edition, as issued (no later edition traced).
