Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First edition. Large hardback in dustwrapper. 31.5 × 24.5cm, 293pp Matisse in Morocco explores the radiant paintings and newly discovered drawings created during a pivotal phase of the French artist's career - his two visits to Tangier in early 1912 and in the winter of 1912/1913. The exotic environment of North Africa proved extraordinarily fruitful, and Matisse completed twenty-three paintings, many of them masterworks. and more than sixty-five energetic pen-and-ink drawings. This book has 255 illustrations, 50 of which are in colour, four essays on Matisse and Morocco, and the appendices consist of 1. Letters relating to the Morosov and Shchukin Commissions, 2. Triptychs, Triads, and Trios, and 3. Provenance, Exhibition History and Literature for Paintings. Condition: The book itself is in good solid condition, with some finger-marking to the pages' fore-edge. The dustwrapper is a little crinkled to the edges and spine ends, with one small tear (less than 1cm) to the bottom edge of the rear of the wrapper.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. pp 1105. Interesting inscription on free front end-paper: 'To J. B. Mac Donnell Esq with compliments from Art O'Brien, July 1925'. I imagine that this was the same Art O'Brien attached to the Dáil Éireann Office in London 1919-22. Rear free end-paper is torn and there is moderate wear to spine - otherwise this very detailed account of conditions in Ireland is in very good condition.

Paperback. Condition: Good. First Edition. In orignal wraps. Shelf wear to the book, previous owner's name and date, binding is sound, some page corners creased. Valuable source document for the Irish War of Independence. "This publication is a collection of the evidences used in "The Interim Report for the American Commission on Conditions in Ireland" 1921, and contains the oral and written testimonies from witnesses in Ireland dating from the end of 1920 and beginning of 1921.Despite the British Government's best efforts in preventing the Commission undertaking a thorough inquiry into the political conditions prevailing in Ireland during the War of Independence, its efforts were in vain. Many witnesses were smuggled illegally into America or written testimonies were provided in their stead. Published in May 1921, Evidence on Conditions in Ireland, Comprising the Complete Testimony, Affidavits, and Exhibits Presented Before the American Commission on Conditions in Ireland, Transcribed an annotated by Albert Coyle, Official Reporter to the Commission, represents the oral and written testimonies of Irish, American and British witnesses before the Commission and as such is the published account of the complete evidence submitted to the American Commission on Conditions in Ireland.Forty-one witnesses in total gave verbal evidence to the Commission. This publication represents a monumental account of the Irish War of Independence from a multitude of eyewitness accounts and is probably the best single source of published material on the subject available."--Irish Family History Center.
