First edition, second printing. Folio. 15" x 11" pictorial & decorated, stiff wrappers, n. p. [18] pp. printed one side & 16 pp. of 12" x 10" illustrations done by Paul E. Corrubia and each drawing protected by a printed tissue guard]. Decorative motifs on text pages are hand-colored. A biographical tribute to the life and contributions of Will Rogers. Born as a citizen of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory, Will Rogers was an American vaudeville performer, actor, and humorous social commentator. As an entertainer and humorist, he traveled around the world three times, made 71 films, and wrote more than 4,000 nationally syndicated newspaper columns. By the mid-1930s, Rogers was hugely popular in the United States for his leading political wit and was the highest paid of Hollywood film stars. He died in 1935 along with aviator Wiley Post when their small airplane crashed in northern Alaska. An uncommon work on Rogers, arguably one of the world's best-known celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s. The subject of the sketches provide images in Oklahoma associated with Will Rogers. ".in the writing, there is an attempt to interpret the mind of Will Rogers in terms of his origins and to use him as a standard for judging contemporary American life." - Introduction. Tiny nicks and creases to the fore-edges, two tiny edge repairs using cellophane tape, wear to the spine ends with the interior clean and tight. Overall a very good, serviceable copy.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Folio stapled wraps from heavy paper, with Rogers' name & decorative lines on the front cover in the fashion of a lariat, & on the back cover with the lariat roping the world. 16 lithographic plates of places in Oklahoma associated with Rogers. Signed by Corrubia. A rather unusual, very attractive presentation. Some decorative motifs appear to be hand-painted. The fine art litho plates are protected by textured guards. Interleaved pages are printed with a well-written text that greatly honors Rogers. The covers have curling to the corners, & short edge tears. Top & bottom of spine split a couple of inches. The blank preliminary sheet, which has the signature on it, is pulled away from the next sheet, which is the title page. Not a fragile book, but because of its size it would have been almost impossible to protect it well. Cup-bottom type circle stain on lower front cover; stains lower half of right margin of back cover, reaching in 3" - 4". The stains are certainly visible, but not dark & ugly. Good copy thus. Rare. Oversized. Signed by Author(s).
