Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of Ontario's Canadian Northern Railway guarantee, a political arrangement that sparked controversy and raised questions about the province's financial stability. The author examines the circumstances surrounding the agreement, uncovering the reasons for its implementation and the concerns it evoked. The work also sheds light on the settlement between the government and the LaRose Mining Company regarding the O'Brien mine suit, revealing the complex negotiations and legal battles that shaped the outcome. Furthermore, the book explores the case of Cobalt Lake's bed, delving into the discovery claims, legal disputes, and the government's role in managing the valuable resource. Through these case studies, the author provides insights into the intricate relationship between government, industry, and natural resources in Ontario's early 20th-century political and economic landscape.
