SB. 189pp.Published Price £22 In February 1925 the War Office published an Army Order listing the battle honours awarded for the Great War, and although this was announced as the final list there were subsequent revisions and minor amendments. No such list was published after WWII but an (unoffic…ial?) Record was published in 1958 by the War Office, with a limited distribution, which included the Korean War battle honours, and this is that list with 651 actions. This Record covers only British, including British Gurkha, Regiments and Colonial Regiments. In most cases there is a brief summary of the operations with an indication of the troops involved and these include Commonwealth troops though the question of their Battle Honours is one for the Commonwealth Government concerned and the Sovereign.There were a good many errors in the list, typographical, grammatical, misspelling of place names, dates and order of battle. In some cases there was confusion between those battle honours which were selected to be carried on the Colours and those which were simply awarded. Strange new regiments appeared:- Highlanders Light Infantry (a persistent favourite), Kingâs Own Yeomanry Light Infantry, the K.A.R.R.R.C, London Irish Fusiliers, London Irish Buffs, Queenâs Own Nigeria Regiment (an unauthorised âQueenâs Ownâ), and the Royal West King Regiment, to name some of them. Place names also caused some trouble and in some of the brief descriptions of the engagements or actions there were order of battle mistakes such as the confusion between the 12th Frontier Force Regiment and 13th Frontier Force Rifles, two different regiments of the old Indian Army. The index contained scores of place names that had nothing to do with anything, this has been pruned drastically so that it contains only those places for which a battle honour was awarded. Every effort has been made to eliminate errors and present a corrected version and a number of sources was used the most important of which was H.C.B.Cookâs The Battle Honours of the British and Indian Armies 1662-1982, a magnificent piece of work. E. Barr Sheriff's Office / Salt Lake City, Utah" This poster originated from the collection of Vinita Park, Missouri Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Portions of his 8,000+ piece crime archive have been featured in films and showcased at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington, D.C. The booking file on the reverse side confirms he was arrested and fingerprinted in Columbus, Ohio on June 12, 1931, where authorities marked him as a "Hold for U.S." target. The red archival stamp reading "OCT 27 1935" across the top of the circular indicates when federal law enforcement caught him or closed the active fugitive file following his apprehension. He was 66 years old when the poster was printed in 1935, so he was born around 1869. He died in the late 1930s or 1940s. This piece is distinct combination of items (the 1935 Charles Edwin Barr Post Office circular paired with its matching Salt Lake City/Columbus fingerprint backing). You are looking at a trail of records left by a traveling con man, and the timeline across different states. When a career fraudster like Charles Edwin Barr moved around the country, local police departments and federal inspectors continuously shared his records to piece together his criminal history. Chronology: June 12, 1931 (Columbus, Ohio), the earliest date on the document. Barr was arrested in Ohio for an unrelated incident or on a local hold. The Columbus police took his prints and noted "Hold for U.S." because they realized federal authorities wanted him. Prior to 1935 (Omaha, Nebraska): While operating his real estate scam through the "National Brokerage Company," Barr broke federal laws. A federal grand jury in Omaha officially indicted him for violating postal laws. Because the crime happened under Omaha's jurisdiction, the legal charges remained anchored there. August 15, 1935 (Kansas City, Missouri): E.O. Hallock, the Post Office Inspector in Charge of the Kansas City division. . . .
