L'incisione, inserita in ricca e decorativa cornice, fa parte della serie di stampe che illustrano l'opera "The Tapestry Hangings of the House of Lords: Representing the several Engagements Between the English and Spanish Fleets. In the ever memorable Year MDLXXXVIII." che rievoca lo scontro tra spagnoli ed inglesi. Nel 1588 Lord Howard of Effingham, comandante della flotta inglese, commissionò a Robert Adams i disegni degli scontri navali per la realizzazione di alcuni arazzi che vennero realizzati da Francis Spiering di Haarlem. Questi, successivamente, vennero venduti a Giacomo I che li fece appendere nella Camera dei Lord, dove rimarranno fino al 1834 anno in cui vennero distrutti dall'incendio. Però nel 1739 le gesta della flotta inglese erano state tradotte a stampa da John Pine con la collaborazione di Clement Lempriere e Hubert Francois Gravelot. Leggera ossidatura della carta e vecchi restauri.…
