Autobiography of Brigadier General Anson Mills (1834-1924). Mills served in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. Mills divides his memoir into three periods. He moves chronologically and begins with his ancestry and early life in the first period. The next period chronicles the Civil War, the years immediately after war, and his marriage. In the third period, Mills recollects many events, both personal and historical, including his travels to Paris and Hawai'i, women's suffrage, and Prohibition.
