Avec lui, on décou…vre d'un il nouveau l'itinéraire passionnant, et parfois douloureux, qui fut celui de Malraux. Dès les années 20, Malraux refuse l'individualisme informe qui tord déjà la race européenne et les essais de nihilisme ou d'absurde qui commencent à fleurir. Avec autant d'humour que de gravité, il s'en libère puis se lance dans l'action, bien qu'il ne soit pas un véritable homme d'action. Il cherche à accumuler des expériences qu'il espère transformer ensuite en conscience. Très vite, l'action révolutionnaire lui apparaîtra, elle aussi, comme une fossoyeuse de la Fraternité : elle restera une «Illusion Lyrique» aussi longtemps que n'auront pas été transformées la sensibilité et la culture qui donnent sa forme à l'homme. Malraux part alors à la quête du secret de la Métamorphose des Dieux afin d'y trouver le secret de la métamorphose de l'homme. Après une crise spirituelle qui faillit le terrasser, il reconnaît que l'Art ne peut à lui seul être un Antidestin, il accepte enfin et sans réserve que la Métamorphose soit la Loi du Monde et il triomphe définitivement de sa vieille ennemie : la Reine du Royaume Farfelu, la Mort. Il accède à la révélation de la Vie, qui seule mérite d'être interrogée, puis à la révélation de l'inconnu de l'impensable, celui qui n'a ni forme ni nom. Il devient l'Agnostique absolu vivant son agnosticisme comme une foi et il annonce le jaillissement spirituel qui, bientôt, pourrait enfin redresser l'homme face au destin et aux millénaires du ciel étoilé - Bon état.
