Jai promis à sa mère de vous écrire la situation de son fils, car elle nose pas vous en faire confidence elle-même. Le loyer du terme davril me regarde. Vous maviez parlé dans le temps de M. DAussonville et de M. Bois (?). En 1859, il publia Lenseignement professionnel, qui fut remarqué par Marx, il adhéra à lInternationale aux environs de 1865.Élu sénateur inamovible le 15 décembre 1875.Il publia plusieurs ouvrages dont Le secret du peuple de Paris, Paris, Pagnerre, 1863.
