Shortly after service in WWII Tom Clark and his wife Meri became members of the NZ lighthouse service, based on of of the many islands in the Hauraki Gulf, leading to the Port of Auckland. In the years that followed he served at lights from the south west tip of the… South Island to the northern most point of the North Island. During these appointments the Clark offspring grew to five with Meri more often than not teacher as well as mother. Family life on a light house, usually in isolated and bleak locations, complements the experiences, dangers and hardship of the actual keepers. The author has researched and included historic events involving NZ lighthouses to produce a most interesting, rounded and readable account. First printed in 1963, this copy from first reprint in 1964, 152 pages, 16 b/w photos, e/paper maps indicate lighthouse locations. Blue hard covers with gilt spine titles VG with few light spots to spine area, ink gift inscription signed by author on half-title verso, text block otherwise excellent. Colour art DJ is VG+ with clear plastic protective cover with taped upper/lower edges. Photos, Maps (illustrator). By Author.
