There is no date on the copyright page. Pitt's books were generally published first in the United Kingdom, and it appears they were more successful there than in his native United States. However, he did write many shorter pieces for a wide vareity of American magazines and periodicals. He was also noted for his poetry. This novel concerns lighthouse keepers, one of Pitt's occupations during his long, life of varied jobs and careers. He explores the nature of reality, the power of meditation, and the importance of compassion. This copy has a stamp from a previous owner on both the front and back paste downs. There is also a label laid down on the front paste down indicating the book was made available to the Canadian military during World War II.
