Olive green cloth binding with black lettering and red anchor centre front, spine unlettered, no obvious faults. xv+47, 30 text ills.; only flaw is tanning to outer sides of end-papers off-set from jacket, so probably common to all copies. Unclipped jacket minimally worn with just a few tiny flecks and hints of edge-tanning, Black lettering to front with red image of country in centre, no spine lettering, will add protective sleeve when ordered. A large proportion of the Inns covered are in St.Albans, on the buildings of which the author had published several other monographs. Undated but internal evidence suggests mi- to late 30s. Apparently very scarce. 19cm x 25 cm.

English Inn Signs: Being a Revised and Modernized Version of History of Signboards by Jacob Larwood and John Camden Hotten (1951) - With eight double-sided monochrome plates through the text and a sixty-four page catalogue of further monochrome illustrations. Kent Inns, A Distillation (1955) - Profusely illustrated with annotated monochrome photographs throughout the text.Collated, complete. In the original cloth bindings. Externally, very smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities, most notable to 'Old London Coaching Inns'. With marks to the boards of 'Kent Inns' and a tipped in 'With Compliments' slip to the front pastedown of 'Old London Coaching Inns'. Bookplate of one Richard Falkiner to the front pastedown of 'Inns and Inn Signs'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers to all and occasional scattered spots to 'Old London Coaching Inns'. Contemporary ownership inscription to the pastedowns and title page of 'English Inn Signs'. Very Good Indeed. book.
