Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the relationship between head trauma and mental illness through an analysis of cases from the historical record and current clinical observations. The author presents a comprehensive overview of the latest research on the neurological and psychological effects of hea…d injuries, tracing the evolution of our understanding of this complex relationship from the ancient world to the present day. The book explores the various ways in which head trauma can manifest as mental illness, including cases of immediate onset and those that develop gradually over time. The author also examines the role of pre-existing mental health conditions in influencing the severity and course of post-traumatic mental illness. This book will be of great interest to clinicians, researchers, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between head trauma and mental health. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates psychological illnesses, particularly a form of mental condition called "pseudomonomania" by its author. This term refers to a state in which an individual's thoughts and emotions are involuntarily influenced by pathological impulses, and which can manifest in un…usual behaviors and obsessions. These psychiatric issues are explored using case studies and a focus on understanding the perspectives of the individuals experiencing them. The author presents theories on how these conditions develop that are contextualized within broader historical and philosophical discussions on mental health. This book challenges conventional classifications of psychological conditions and offers new perspectives on the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders that should be of considerable interest to readers in related fields of study. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Jean-Martin Charcot (1825-93) was a professor of anatomical pathology at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, and one of the founders of modern neurology. Numerous disorders are named after him, and he was one of the best known doctors in ninet…eenth-century France. He was the first to describe and name multiple sclerosis, and undertook crucial research into what became known as Parkinson's Disease. He also worked on hysteria, and was one of Freud's teachers. These two volumes of lectures on neurological illnesses, first published in Paris in 1872-3 and 1877, were based on extensive clinical studies at the Salpêtrière, and edited by Désiré Magloire Bourneville. (The second edition of Volume 1, reissued here, was published in 1875.) Analysis of symptoms, sometimes using photography, combined with post-mortem analyses, allowed Charcot to produce classic descriptions of different neurological disorders. Volume 1 deals with spinal lesions, disseminated sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and hysteria.
