Chapman, with the text based upon a collation of the early editions and supplemented with notes, indexes, and illustrations from contemporary sources. Illustrated with chromo-collotype frontispieces, numerous full-page plates, folding plans, and illustrations in the text. Each physical volume retains the publisher's spare printed spine label tipped in at the rear, as issued. The first scholarly edition of Austen's collected novels and the edition that established the Chapman text as the standard text of Austen's novels for much of the twentieth century.
