Cover slightly creased, small tears and scuffs and slightly stained. staples are rusted. Foldout b/w. map showing railway and omnibus routes with, on the reverse, a plan of the gardens drawn on isometric projection by R. B. Brook-Greaves. On page 106 of this guide is a photograph of the London Zoo's "Thylacine, or Tasmanian wolf", taken by D. Seth Smith. This was the last living specimen outside Australia.

Detailed provenance: From the library of Dr William Whitridge (1747â"1831) of Rhode Island. The book was later owned by Dr John Whitridge (1791-1878), William's son, who was a prominent Baltimore physician. Dr. John Williams was the founder of academic obstetrics in the United States and a professor at Johns Hopkins. Additional note: This volume isn't signed by Whitridge, but came from a library of the families' books.
