Rares rousseurs. Coins très lég. émoussés. Très bon exemplaire. Première édition française de ce témoignage précieux sur la Birmanie. Dépêché en 1795 par la Compagnie anglaise des Indes orientales auprès de la cour impériale pour des négociations commerciales, le capitaine Hiram Cox, fut aussi chargé d'intervenir dans la province d'Arakan, alors tyrannisée par le gouvernement birman. Il trouva la mort au cours de cette mission en 1798. Son journal fut publié en 1821 à Londres, il est ici enrichi d'un grand nombre de notes et d'un essai historique sur l'empire des Birmans, par Chaalons d'Argé (1798-1869).
