Head of text-block shaved, with occasional loss of pagination numerals, scattered spotting. Occasional early manuscript annotations. An unrecorded early Victorian edition of an abridgement of the 1649 Douai Catechism, authorised and approved by the Vicars Apostolic following examination by Reverend Robert Richmond of St. Mary's College, Oscott. A prefatory letterpress approbation suggests that this edition, published by R. P Stone and Son of Birmingham, was preceded by an 1827 issue (also unrecorded) approved by six divines led by English Catholic priest, and Vicar Apostolic of London, William Poynter (1762-1827).
