Rara prima edizione di questa importante biografia del grande condottiero e ammiraglio genovese Andrea Doria (morto quasi novantenne nel 1560), uno dei principali protagonisti della storia italiana ed europea del Cinquecento, che combattè per l'Imperatore Carlo V nelle guerre contro il Re di Francia Francesco I, e guidò diverse spedizioni contro i Turchi negli anni tra il 1530 e il 1541. Questo saggio biografico fu pubblicato postumo da Pompeo Arnolfini con dedica all'omonimo nipote Andrea Doria; l'opera fu anche tradotta in italiano e pubblicata sempre a Genova da Pavoni nel 1598. Esemplare nel complesso ottimamente conservato, caratterizzato da carte di non comune freschezza. Opera omnia del grande storico ed erudito modenese Carlo Sigonio (1520-1584), ritenuto il precursore di Muratori e tra i padri della storiografia in Italia.
