Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an investigation into the thermal conductivity and diffusivity of concrete. The authors set out to determine the absolute thermal conductivity of a number of standard concrete mixtures, and also calculated the diffusivity from the specific heat, density, and thermal conduc…tivity. The determinations of thermal conductivity for concrete are part of a larger study of the physical constants of concrete. The experimental work for this investigation was carried out by the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, University of Illinois, in 1920. The determinations of thermal conductivity and diffusivity were made on 51 concrete cylinders, including 3 cylinders of neat cement. Results of the observations and calculations are given for the 51 cylinders. The results are summarized and presented as average values of thermal conductivity and diffusivity for different mixtures of concrete and for white marble, at different temperatures. The book is a valuable resource for engineers, architects, and researchers working with concrete and other building materials. The data and insights presented in this book can help to improve the design and construction of buildings and other structures, by providing a better understanding of the thermal properties of concrete. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
