First edition. xi, 180pp., double-page frontispiece showing officers commanding the 5th Seaforth Highlanders while mobilized, and a folding map at the end of the book. The 5th Seaforth Highlanders, whose war record is given in this book, is the Territorial Battalion of Caithness and Sutherland, the two most northerly counties in Scotland. The battalion was first formed in 1859, early in the Volunteer movement, by the Duke of Sutherland. This account of the the paert played by the Battalion in the First World War also contains lists of decorations and those mentioned in despatches. The book is bound in the original blue boards with gold titling on the spine and battalion badge on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear and some light soiling. The corners and spine ends are bumped and the spine is slightly faded with wear to the titling and a small bit of damage just below the titling. The contents are tight and clean with offsetting/browning to the endpapers. No inscriptions.
