Seis problemas para don Isidro Parodi es exactamente eso: el debut de H. Bustos Domecq, seudónimo detrás del cual trabajan Jorge Luis Borges y Adolfo Bioy Casares, construyendo un detective inmóvil (preso) que resuelve casos desde la celda, a pura escucha, deducción y malicia verbal. Publicada por Editorial Sur en 1942 la casa fundada por Victoria Ocampo para tender un puente entre la cultura argentina y la literatura contemporánea mundial, con traducciones y ediciones de altísimo estándar, esta primera edición tiene un peso propio: no es solo un libro raro; es un capítulo central del ecosistema Sur, ese proyecto cultural que marcó el canon del siglo XX en el Río de la Plata. La editorial, nacida como extensión de la revista homónima, tuvo una política de catálogo que combinó modernidad, rigor y circulación internacional. En lo literario, el volumen parodia y a la vez homenajea el género detectivesco: hay claves falsas, testigos verborrágicos, pistas escondidas en la jerga, en la solemnidad impostada y en los "excesos" del habla; todo está escrito con una precisión cómica que hoy se reconoce como una de las cumbres del dúo BorgesBioy en colaboración.
