In tracing these events John Broven presents not only the artists and their songs but also the important peripheral activities of the New Orleans music industry. Subjects explored include the record companies, the recording studios, the radio stations, the distributors, the jukebox trade, the clubs, live performances, the musicians' union, and the ephemeral crazes.
