Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: None as Issued. First Edition, 6th Printing. Text/BRAND NEW & Bright. Hi-gloss soft cover/NF w/light wear. First published 1979; this is the 6th paperback printing of 1984. Photographic essay of Yosemite preceded by a Preface by Ansel Adams (1908 - 1984 ) penned January of…1979, and an Introduction by Paul Brooks. The images in this book, taken over a span of time, are not in chronological order, nor are they collations of specific areas. A devoted conservationist, Adams says "I am glad that the artist can move through the wilderness taking noting away from its inexhaustible spirit and bring his vision-modulated fragments to all who come and see." The volume is a visionary splendor. Fine copy. Ansel Adams (Photographer) (illustrator).

Anthology of selected photographs from 1928 to 1968 in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas & Utah. In the Preface, Ansel Adams (1902 - 1984) tells us his earliest "serious photographs" of the South…west were made around 1928. This selection is presented for the "flow of meaning" rather than governed by location and time." Although some previously published photographs are included for their signficance to the general theme, the larger part of the chosen works "has been seldom, if ever, seen or reproduced" before. Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: None as Issued. First Paperback Edition, First Thus. Text/BRAND NEW. Illustrated soft cover/NF w/light edge & surface wear & faint creasing to lower front corner by spine. Photographer Herbert Wendell Gleason (1855 - 1937) began photographing late in life; the year was 189…9 and he was 44 years old. That year he set out to record the landscape Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862) spoke of. This collection of photographs is presented with texts of Thoreau. Many, though not exclusively, are of Concord, Massachusetts, birthplace of Thoreau and home to Walden Pond. Map of Concord compiled by Gleason in 1906 precedes the photographic essay which follows seasons' time line. The circumstances surrounding this posthumousl publication are both fascinating and celebratory; an account is given in the prefatory sector. A splendid combining of the verbal and visual. Fine copy. Herbert W. Gleason (Photographer) (illustrator).

Hardcover: H 23.25cm x L 15.75cm. Dust jacket well rubbed with usual strong color fading to front panel and spine (with Allan Brooks' wraparound illustration rear panel col…or noticeably stronger); creasing and small chips with several tears including unfortunate tape repair at front panel's top left with some overlap into spine; strong crease rear flap's bottom corner; front flap retains publisher's printed price at bottom; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Green cloth with mild mottling; fading to spine cloth with its gilt stamping a bit dulled in comparison to the front board's brighter stamping.
