Die Ausstellung führte in geistesgeschichtliche Hintergründe technischer und gesellschaftlicher Umwälzungen ein, die unter anderem als Digitalisierung bis heute fortwirken . Durch die Ausstellungen und die Rezeption des Kataloges wurde der Begriff zu einem in der Kulturszene bekannten Code.
