Una collezione straordinaria che si deve a due giovani architetti, Hans Edward Adler e Hedwig Feldmann, che nei primi anni '30 lavorarono - per un breve ma fondamentale periodo - in Unione Sovietica. Dalla casa di famiglia a Colonia, i libri arriveranno in Inghilterra (dove la coppia si trasferisce, in fuga dalla Germania nazista) e saranno riscoperti nel 1986, quando la figlia Susan libera l'appartamento dei genitori. La collezione Adler, che Susan McQuail (nata Adler) ha donato nel 2020 alla Biblioteca Braidense di Milano, è testimonianza di un periodo unico nella storia del Novecento: ogni volume ci svela un aspetto dell'URSS dopo la Rivoluzione d'Ottobre e ci parla del ruolo cruciale della letteratura per l'infanzia nella cultura sovietica.
