L'autrice è di formazione psicologa, specializzata in Comportamento Animale, che insegna a Reading, Inghilterra. Il libro è il testo di parte del corso di Animal Behaviour, che l'autrice tiene all'Università di Reading. È un'introduzione panoramica agli studi moderni sul comportamento animale (etologia), centrata in particolare sul comportamento sociale. Un proseguimento del libro di Mainardi nella "Biologia per i giovani". Il livello è più avanzato soprattutto perché c'è molto più materiale e un costante riferimento a lavori scientifici: il linguaggio è però semi-tecnico, largamente accessibile anche a principianti (è più o meno il livello della serie BM). Data la formula adottata -citare tutti gli studi interessanti e rinviare alla relativa bibliografia- il libro risulta leggermente noioso.…
