During this period, Adriaan-Gilles resided in Paris to advance his scientific education, while Petrus Camper continued his research in Friesland. Petrus Camper was a physician, anatomist, physiologist, naturalist, zoologist, palaeontologist, and anthropologist. He was one of the most important Dutch scholars of the eighteenth century. His research into comparative anatomy, the anatomy of apes and other animals, fossils, and the human skull made him internationally renowned.
