The author presents evidence which demonstrates that not only are the internal organs sensitive to thermal, mechanical, electrical, and chemical stimuli, but the type and quality of the sensation can be localized in specific regions. The author further discusses the relationship between the quality of sensation and the intensity of the stimulus, noting the conditions under which the sensations are experienced as painful. This book's findings contribute significantly to our understanding of the sensibility of the internal organs and provide new insights into the complex systems that mediate our internal experiences.
