Dust jacket mostly lacking with just a detached foxed, soiled, and chipped front panel and detached foxed front flap now laid-in at rear endpapers. Dark aquamarine cloth rubbed with light staining/mottling, shallow chip and fraying at spine head and front board's adjacent top left corner. Foxing to edges and endpapers; moderate foxing to title/copyright leaf and to pages adjacent to book's b/w plates; occasional foxing to other interior leaves which, overall, remain clean. Binding is firm. A good+ copy. Collection of science essays by BBC broadcaster and journalist Cecil Leonard Boltz with the perhaps the most interesting being that from which the book's title is derived - the case of British Merchant Navy officer John Trattles who fought a prolonged legal battle in the early 1900s against the British Board of Trade regarding his possible color blindness.
