Light yellow cloth. Toning to edges and endpapers; short swath of blue-green marker on top edge; past owner's four line ink note on front pastedown mostly hidden underneath dj's front flap. A very good- copy in a good+ dust jacket with Bohn's two-line inscription upon the front free endpaper: "With greetings from | the author - William E. Bohn." With a Foreword by Carl Sandburg. Dust jacket's front panel provides a summarizing subtitle: "The colorful reminiscences of a very old man, born in the Midwest 85 years ago - a man who remembers President Garfield, made a speech to President McKinley, and was a friend of Eugene Debs and 'Fighting Bob' La Follette." Bohn served as editor of "The New Leader" beginning in 1941. Published in New York, "The New Leader" started as a weekly newspaper in 1924 but switched to a monthly magazine format in May 1950 and bi-monthly in 2000 till eventually succumbing to an online-only publication in 2006.
