Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Please find: "Courbet and the Naturalistic Movement" edited by George Boas. It is a compilation of essays read at the Baltimore Museum of Art on May 16, 17, 18, 1938. There is a small flyer laid-in which was apparently a handout of the John Hopkins Press, advertizing this book. It includes an excerpt from the Foreword, to wit: "The papers which follow in this volume were written to test an hypothesis about the history of art: that any artistic movement spreads beyond the limits of a particular art to the various non-artistic activities which characterize an epoch." Please see the photo of the Table of Content for the full list of the essays read on this occasion in 1938. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and the upper corners are bumped, the front corner down to the boards. There are some light tide lines on the paper label on the spine of the book. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are bright white and clean throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
