It has a black-lined presentation label on the front pastedown from Mrs John Lang and Miss Diana Lang, and loosely laid in, in its original envelope, is a black lined letter from Leonora Blanche Lang to Sir Herbert Maxw…ell, from her address in Chediston Gardens, dated 15 May 1923, explaining that he would receive a copy of the work from the publishers. Sir H E Maxwell, 7th Baronet, was a Scottish novelist, essayist, artist, antiquarian, horticulturalist, prominent salmon angler and author of books on angling and Conservative politician. In original publisher's cloth, no dust jackets, some darkening and slight water marks to spines, but otherwise a very good set with clean pages and bindings sound.Andrew Lang was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, historian, and folklorist renowned for his collections of folk and fairy tales and translations of Homer. His famous Fairy Books were and still are credited to him but were mainly the work of his wife Leonora Blanche, who lived for 21 years after his death.
