Large square folio (335 x 335mm), one page, written out in a single hand and signed by Nic. Geare, Registrar; and signed at top left by Lavington; tipped into a folder. A document signed by George Lavington, Bishop of Exeter, appointing the Rev. John Minifie to the 'Impropriate Curacy of Egloskerry and Chapell of Tremayne' in Cornwall. Lavington was a staunch opponent of the early methodists, and of 'enthusiasm' generally, which like many of his contemporaries he regarded as humbug.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of speeches and sermons given by a bishop to his clergy. The main focus of the book is on the importance of the sacraments and the need for a more reverent and attentive approach to them. The author argues that the sacraments are not merely outward and visible signs, but are effectual means of grace, whereby we receive the benefits of Christ's death and resurrection. He also speaks of the unity of the Church, the importance of teaching the true doctrine of the faith and the central role worship should have in the lives of true Christians. The book provides a wealth of wisdom and insight on these topics, and is a valuable resource for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the Christian faith. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
