Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 1,5, European School of Business Reutlingen, course: Lecture, language: English, abstract: Taking into consideration the assumptions behind classical capital structures on the one hand and the specific economic environment and the resulting behavior of firms in the emerging European economies on the other hand, it is clear that these extraordinary circumstances (different political and economic systems) influence the determination of the firms' capital structures in these countries in a special way. The goal of this paper is to determine the driving factors for different capital structure choices in emerging European economies, compared to the one we can see for instance in Western European countries. As a result of the underlying research on this topic and also considering the fact that shareholders are slowly gaining influence in businesses in emerging European economies (like Slovenia), the financial principal behavior of these companies will probably remain different from those in mature market economies. One of the most interesting findings regarding the research topic is probably the fact that we can find a re-designed Pecking Order Theory in some Eastern and Central European (CEE) economies.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, European School of Business Reutlingen (Business Administration), course: Lecture, language: English, abstract: On August 21, 2008 Continental accepted Schaeffler s offer to become a majority shareholder of their company. Both companies signed an investment agreement, including the criteria that Schaeffler is not allowed to hold more than 49.9% of the total shares until 2012. Because of the lucrative offer to the former shareholders of Continental, they have tendered a total of 82.41% to Schaeffler that led to a total holding of approximately 90%. Therefore Schaeffler had to hand over 40% of those shares to banks. Since then, both companies are fighting the credit crunch, rising raw material prices and the financial/ automotive crisis with sharply decreased sales volumes. Currently both suppliers are working together on the first major strategic project, in order to make use of synergies including costs, knowledge and distribution. If Schaeffler will keep all of Continentals 'exotic' business units like 'tires' it will become an interesting strategic issue as soon as the management can make those fundamental decisions. …

Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,0, European School of Business Reutlingen (Business Administration), course: Lecture, language: English, abstract: Intercultural communication is becoming more and more essential in a globalized world. A couple of years ago, only international managers or diplomats needed to think about intercultural communication and its challenges. Today, this has changed and ordinary people from all over the world and different cultural backgrounds come into contact with each other on a regular base. The different reasons, primarily driven by technology and globalization as well as the related challenges are presented in the following pages. This paper presents different frameworks, which help to describe and understand the important elements and issues in intercultural communication. The presented models accept as a prerequisite that all individuals are being affected or interrelated by multiple cultures in various amounts and purposes. The Intercultural Communication Model, the Rainbow Model, A Contextual Model of Intercultural Communication as well as the recent Dimensional Value Framework will be presented and explained in this paper. All of the four frameworks theorize the relationship between communication and culture while using different approaches and assumptions. As a first result it can be said, that there is no universal valid model on how to communicate in an intercultural context. All frameworks offer helpful guidance and recommendations on how to react within certain circumstances. Which model to use, depends on individual preferences and traceability of each and every one of us. …

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Supply, Production, Logistics, grade: 1,2, European School of Business Reutlingen (Business Adminstration), language: English, abstract: The environmental surroundings of most companies have changed radically in recent years. Especially the competitive pressure has risen substantially over the past decades, fuelled by an increased globalization of markets and supply chains. In order to continuously satisfy consumer needs in a timely manner, organizations have to focus on performance and efficiency improvement measures. In terms of supply chain management, performance includes the three dimensions efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility which have to be dealt with on an equal basis. One mean to improve supply chain performance is the linkage between various IT applications involved in the whole supply chain. These efforts and trends are treated under the term electronic supply chain management (E-SCM). There are three major critical success factors for the successful operation of an electronic supply chain. These can be clustered into decision motivation (e.g. a shared vision and a strong motivation), implementation process (e.g. the tight integration of inter-organizational information systems and the re-engineering of inter-organizational business processes) and infrastructure conditions (e.g. agreement upon a shared industry standard). There are numerous benefits of an E-SCM implementation such as increased communication speed and decreased cost in terms of communication, inventory and customer service. Furthermore, E-SCM allows mitigating the bullwhip effect by improv-ing the availability of information throughout the entire supply chain. In addition E-SCM allows organizations to implement an entirely pull-based approach. One downside of E-SCM is the need to make a company's entire business processes transparent, also towards supply chain partners who might be engaged with competitors. A further danger of E-SCM is to over-rely on speed rather than on flexibility. …

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Master's Thesis from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 2,0, Reutlingen University (Business Adminstration), language: English, abstract: The global financial and economic crises resulted for many corporations in a downgraded credit rating within the last 2 to 3 years. Even a large percentage of them defaulted on their credit obligations due to inherent operational factors. The importance of credit ratings will play an even more central role under the currently discussed New Basel Capital Accord (Basel III) (Standard & Poor s 2010; Basel III For Global Banks). The purpose of this research is to explore the relationship between long term credit ratings and selected financial ratios that can be derived by public information. Such information can be very valuable for companies in order to have a slight control over their credit rating obtained by rating agencies as well as in negotiations with banks and other outside creditors. The research design is based on three automotive manufacturers and involves their credit rating over the last decade. The data for the financial ratios was collected from respective financial statements. The study is based on a correlation and multiple regression analysis using the MINITAB (Minitab Data Analysis Software, Pennsylvania USA) software as a statistical platform. A step wise approach determined the regression equation with the highest significance. The equations were used to detect those variables that have the strongest impact on the credit rating. The results for automotive companies with a solid statistical data set are surprisingly high in significance with an adjusted coefficient of determination of over 90%. Overall it is not feasible to mention which one of the seventeen financial ratios explains the variation in credit rating most reliable, because such a statement depends always on the individual company. For example to explain the changes in the rating for the Ford Motor Company, the following six ratios turned out to be the most significant ones: total equity to total assets; sales to fixed assets; sales to inventory; net income to total equity; total equity to long term liabilities and EBIT to sales. Each regression equation consisted mostly of different financial ratios. Apart from the fact that financial information is only one aspect of the credit rating determination process, the attained results are valid and valuable insights for all external and internal rating analysts. The global financial and economic crises resulted for many corporations in a downgraded credit rating within the last 2 to 3 years. [.].…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensführung, Management, Organisation, Note: 2,0, Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Business Administration), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In the last years project management has become very important to all types of companies. Different tools, methods, and practices help companies to finish projects within the given time, budget and scope. Although the pressure and competition of global markets grow constantly, there are almost no relevant changes in the traditional network techniques which were first introduced over 50 years ago. Network techniques are the only available methods that are able to describe the complexity of projects in a well arranged way. In the following chapters the three main techniques (Critical Path Method, Program Evaluation and Review Technique and the Metra Potential Method) will be introduced and discussed. Dr. Goldratt, the founder of the Theory of Constraints , developed 1997 a complete new approach for managing projects. His solution Critical Chain Project Management is challenging, but if it is properly implemented, the performance and success of projects can be increased significantly. How to handle this approach correctly and how the basic project parameters have to change will also be part of the following Bachelor Thesis. The structure of the Thesis is developed in order to give the reader a deep insight of the key challenges in project management and how the different approaches face them. Afterwards, the most popular technique, the Critical Path Method, and the innovative Critical Chain Method are directly compared to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental differences.…
