Comment pourrait-elle s'en rendre compte, comment pourrait-elle avoir une connaissance des trois sieges qu'elle a subis, puisque…, en dehors de l'etat civil, son hotel de ville n'a pas conserve une seule feuille d'archives historiques, un seul indice sur les siecles ecoules ? Cette constatation, dont j'ai eu connaissance en mai-juin de l'annee derniere ( 1909 ), au cours d'un sejour bien exceptionnel a Geaune, a eveille en moi le projet de chercher a reunir sans retard la documentation qui pourrait encore exister sur cette ancienne bastide trop tombee dans l'oubli.
