From Berès' description: "Les 109 manuscrits et livres décrits sont répartis en dix sections. Les cinq premières présentent quelques manuscrits et de grands incunables, comme le Songe de Poliphile de 1499 ; un fragment célèbre, jadis cédé par la Bibliothèque nationale, de la première Bible imprimée à Paris ; un magnifique psautier d'une presse inconnue des années 1470 ; deux exemplaires, dont l'un colorié, de la Chronique de Nuremberg de Schede! Suivent, au seizième siècle, un portrait d'érasme peint par Vecellio pour les Pillone sur un Novum Testamentum de Froben, deux exemplaires des premières éditions françaises du Songe de Poliphile, avec la mise en lumière, pour la première fois, de leurs différences significatives ; la première édition des Essais de Montaigne en vélin d'époque, etc. Au dix-septième siècle, on remarque les Descartes ayant appartenu à l'auteur des Maximes, le duc de La Rochefoucauld ; des reliures royales ; des manuscrits ou des premières éditions, parfois dédicacées, des classiques : Madame de La Fayette, La Fontaine, La Rochefoucauld, Molière, Racine. Du dix-huitième siècle, il y a une reliure ornée de deux peintures originales de Moreau le Jeune ; le fameux Cervantès d'Ibarra, relié par Derôme ; un exemplaire enluminé pour la Cour des Fêtes publiques de 1747 ; des éditions illustrées de Molière et Racine, en belles conditions d'époque, et des premières éditions de Montesquieu, Rousseau, Voltaire, etc. On remarque, au dix-neuvième siècle, deux exemplaires de la véritable édition originale d'Adolphe, imprimée à Londres ; le manuscrit de l'étrange Alchimiste que Dumas écrivit avec Gérard de Nerval et offrit ensuite au tsar Nicolas Ier de Russie, dans une reliure décorée par de grands peintres du temps. Il y a deux exemplaires du Corbeau d'Edgar Poe illustré par Manet, l'un avec un état inconnu de l'une des lithographies. À côté du manuscrit du Livre d'amour offert par Sainte-Beuve à la duchesse de Castries, figure un exemplaire du De l'amour de Stendhal, entièrement annoté par l'écrivain. Les cinq sections suivantes renferment des exemplaires hors du commun ou uniques d'ouvrages concernant la gastronomie, la chasse, l'histoire naturelle, les voyages et les sciences. Dans cette dernière section, à côté de Galilée, Ambroise Paré et Marat, il y a un livre inconnu du seizième siècle décrivant les premières atteintes de la peste et les deux planches de Chrysostome Martinez, probablement les plus belles compositions anatomiques jamais gravées, dont le seul exemplaire répertorié appartient à l'Académie de Médecine."
