In dem Bild >Die Dynamik der Idee( hat er asketisch und stringent die Konsequenzen aus seiner jahrelangen Beschäftigung mit Raffaels Fresko >Die Schule von Athen( in den Stanzen des Vatikan gezogen und die Vielheit der im Disput einander widerstreitenden Gedanken auf den Nenner einer ihnen allen zugrundeliegenden Idee, auf Punkt, Linie und Fläche, auf eine die Gegensätze umfassende und bewahrende Raumformel gebracht. Hinter dem >Raum des Erfinders( meine ich die Erinnerung an Willikens' Leonardo-Variationen des Abendmahl-Raumes zu erkennen - wenn auch an jene auratische Stelle an der Stirnwand, die bei Leonardo dem brotbrechenden, die Kommunion spendenden Christus vorbehalten war, nun eine emblematische Kreisform getreten ist, die an das uns so schwer faßbare Bild des Universums denken läßt.« Wieland Schmied »Zugleich sind diese Bilder, bei aller konstruktiven Rhetorik, aber auch Malerei, deren Epidermis Willikens mit dem Pinsel sublimiert oder mit der Spritzpistole ins Unpersönliche glättet.
