Add to baskethardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Florence Farr, Bernard Shaw, W.B. Yeats Letters, Bernard Shaw & W.B. Yeats (Edited by Clifford Bax) â" 1st Edition Publication: London, Home & Van Thal Ltd., 1946 Formatting: 8vo, pp. x, 67. Condition Report: Very Good. The original green cloth boards remain remarkably clean with sharp, unbumped corners, and the gilt titling to the front board is exceptionally bright and unoxidised. The binding is tight, square, and sound. Internally, the pages are clean and highly legible, though a very faint scattering of light spotting is evident to the extreme outer margins of the preliminary leaves, alongside minor dust-toning to the top edge of the text block. The original printed dust jacket, now housed in a protective archival sleeve, is largely complete but displays some mild shelf-wear, light age-toning and faint spotting to the rear panel, and minor rubbing to the extremities. The jacket remains unclipped, still bearing the original '3/6 NET' price on the front flap. Catalogue Note: This is the first UK edition of this engaging collection of letters, offering a profound glimpse into the literary and theatrical circles of early twentieth-century London. Edited by the dramatist Clifford Bax, the volume compiles the correspondence of George Bernard Shaw and W.B. Yeats to the prominent actress, director, and occultist Florence Farr. While not an inherently rare text, finding the first British edition complete with its original dust jacket in such a well-preserved, highly readable state is uncommonly desirable for collectors of Irish and modernist literature. A fascinating primary source for students of modernist drama and literature, this volume collects the deeply personal, professional, and occasionally contentious correspondence between two literary titans, George Bernard Shaw and W.B. Yeats, and their mutual friend and collaborator, Florence Farr. The letters chart the intersection of theatre, poetry, and esoteric philosophy in Edwardian London, illuminating Farr's crucial role as a sounding board, muse, and independent intellectual force among the leading male figures of the Celtic Revival and the avant-garde stage.
