Edited and co-ordinated by Sarah Lowndes, Like The Sea I Think is an enthralling collection of new marine writing from East Anglia gathered from library workshops and open submissions held across the region. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. J. M. Barrie. The Little Minister. NY: R. H. Russell : Publishers, 1898, Maude Adams Edition, 375 pp. *** This edition was published in conjunction with the play having the same title. Maude Adams had the starring role and contributed much to the play's success. Barrie wrote the four-act play based on his 1891 novel. This play opened in 1897 with runs in Washington, D.C., New York, and London. On Broadway the drama starred the talented and good looking stage actress Maude Adams. The play was an enormous success running to 300 performances. Maude's role in this play established her as a Broadway star. The story takes place in the Scottish town of Thrums. Gavin Dishart, a new minister to the town, falls in love with a beautiful, spirited woman, Lady Babbie, who poses as an exotic Gypsy. Needless to say, complications arise (drama). Frontis. and a number of full-page drawings by C. Allen Gilbert, plus photographs of the play which appear for the first time in this edition. Scottish tartan cloth bookmark bound in. This book is in my inventory and the images are of this particular item. *** Beige hopsack cloth boards and spine. Front cover has stamped gilt floral decoration surrounding an oval photo portrait of Maude Adams, dark brown ruled lines and lettering. The spine has stamped gilt floral decoration and stamped gilt lettering. Deckle page edges side and bottom with top of block gilt. Covers have very light wear and soil with a few spots of light foxing. Contents are clean and complete in a solid binding. Hinge papers are cracked with hinges still strong. Book is a bit heavier than usual. *** 9.25 inches tall by6.5 inches. C. Allen Gilbert (illustrator). …
