Magazine / Periodical First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Good. T.H.Robinson, S. Spurrier, C. Cowell, Frank Gillett, etc. (illustrator). 1st Edition. 150 page magazine in original soft cover, these worn and creased the final 44 pages being a Sherlock Holmes parody (part one, complete in itself) of two parts, 2nd part in the following issue. Later titled "The Blonde Lady" for the 1910 hardback. pages 211-215 are loose, last page and inside rear wrapper has three small ink? blots. paper is pulp quality and had age toned but all good and nothing flaking, etc. Square digest format magazine. RARE. *NOTE: The bibliographic details are nonexistent or confused. The stories appeared in France in 1908 we believe. A legal issue by A.C. Doyle was made and Leblanc was forced to make changes and the name Herlock Sholmes previously used was dropped. The hardback was published in 1910. This magazine contains the first 3 parts, all with the less clever Holmes being sidelined by Arsene Lupin the great French Detective. " No 514 Series 23" + "The Blue Diamond" "Holmlock Shears Opens Hostilities". In one of 2 collections located as published at the time, the name Holmlock Shears was preceded by the one having the name Herlock Sholmes (presumably prior to the Conan Doyle injunction?). A nice addition for any Doyle/Holmes collection/collector.
