Soft cover. Condition: Fair to Good. Barbelle, Albert Wilfred (illustrator). Noticeable edgewear and some closed tears, otherwise a good clean copy. Lovely cover illustration by Barbelle. "Bring Me a Rose" is a relatively obscure early 20th-century popular song written by Charles Shisler, a composer active in the Tin Pan Alley / sheet music era.The composer, Shisler, is not well documented. despite the popularity of his ballads at the time. On the other hand, the cover illustrator Barbelle is notable to this day and is studied as an example of early commercial illustration and graphic design.

Sheet Music First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Albert Barbelle (illustrator). 1st Edition. Original illustrated sheet music with ukulele arrangement, 4 pages, featuring performer portrait inset of Jack Ryan and cover art signed 'Barbelle.' Copyright date MCMLXXVII (1927) printed on interior music page. Original first edition/first printing as issued for popular retail sale during the height of the Jazz Age dance-band era. A visually striking late-1920s popular song sheet with elegant Art Deco-inflected cover illustration by Barbelle, one of the most recognizable commercial illustrators of American sheet music during the interwar period. The vivid blue-and-cream design, featuring a fashionable flapper figure with feather fan, captures the sophisticated nightclub aesthetic that defined Tin Pan Alley marketing in the late 1920s. The music includes ukulele chord arrangements reflecting the instrument's enormous popularity in American homes during the decade. The inset publicity portrait identifies vaudeville and radio performer Jack Ryan as a featured interpreter of the song. Rear cover advertisements include contemporary Waterson hits such as 'To-Night You Belong To Me' and 'That Night in Araby,' providing additional period context for collectors of Tin Pan Alley ephemera. Condition: Very Good. Covers remain bright and attractive with moderate edge wear, light creasing, and a small area of loss/chipping at the lower front cover margin. Interior pages are clean and complete with strong paper quality and only light handling wear. Fold remains secure and intact. Rear cover clean with mild toning and edge wear. An appealing and display-worthy Jazz Age sheet music example with especially desirable Barbelle cover art. Barbelle was the professional name of illustrator Albert Barbelle (1887-1951), one of the premier American commercial artists of the Tin Pan Alley era. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Barbelle produced hundreds of iconic sheet music covers during the 1910s-1930s for major New York music publishers, helping define the visual identity of Jazz Age popular music. His elegant depictions of fashionable women, dancers, and theatrical performers blended Art Deco styling with romantic commercial illustration, and his work remains highly collectible among enthusiasts of American popular culture and graphic design history.

Sheet Music First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Albert Wilfred Barbelle (illustrator). 1st Edition. Scarce and visually appealing mid-1920s popular song sheet issued during the peak of America's ukulele craze and dance-band era. The striking Jazz Age cover art is by Albert Wilfred Barbelle (1887-1957), one of the best-known illustrators of the Tin Pan Alley era, celebrated for his elegant sheet-music covers and later for illustrating the first Mickey Mouse book. The design depicts a fashionable flapper seated at an early candlestick telephone in stylized blue-and-cream Art Deco coloration, accompanied by an inset photographic portrait of performer Ruth Gillette. Interior includes ukulele tuning instructions and accompaniment diagrams intended for home performance, reflecting the rapid popularization of amateur music-making during the radio age. Condition: Very Good. Complete and fully legible with mild edge wear, light corner creasing, and gentle age toning consistent with 1920s sheet music. Small edge chips and short closed tears at margins; interior music pages remain clean and bright. Cover retains strong color and visual appeal with only moderate handling wear. Edition/printing: first edition/first printing thus, with original 1925 copyright date and no later reprint indicators noted. Henry Creamer (1879-1930) was one of the major African American lyricists of the Tin Pan Alley era, collaborating on numerous vaudeville and Broadway standards. Leon Flatow (1886-1942) was a prolific composer and arranger active in popular music and theatrical publishing during the 1910s-30s. Cover artist Albert Wilfred Barbelle became one of the defining visual stylists of American sheet-music illustration, producing hundreds of memorable covers during the Jazz Age. Jerome H. Remick & Co. was among the leading American sheet music publishers of the early twentieth century, known for colorful illustrated covers and dance-era popular songs.
