Contact seller5-star sellerFirst edition (not stated). Collates as [ffep], [title/copyright], 1-122 pages, [rfep] plus covers. Staple-bound paperback: H 20.5cm x L 13.75cm. Original tan paper covers well soiled and stained with wear at edges; old stitching repair lengthwise along spine with old brown tape repairs at ends with overlap into adjacent cover corners; old single-line ink ownership inscription at top of front cover with same owner's three-line ink inscription at top of title page. Some foxing, soiling, and stains to interior leaves with some edge-wear at corners. Rust to the two staples but aforementioned spine stitching keeps binding firm. Only a good copy at best. Horace Leonard Baker (1893-1948), a Greenwood Springs native and Aberdeen, Mississippi schoolteacher, entered the U.S. Army as a private in 1918 and fought with the American Expeditionary Forces 32nd Division 128th Infantry Regiment under General John Pershing including the Meuse-Argonne offensive better known as the Battle of the Argonne Forest. An exceptionally uncommon book in the first edition for it is unlikely that the print run exceeded more than several hundred copies as the author's local small town newspaper served as the book's printer and distributor. {Bibliographical reference: Lengel WORLD WAR I MEMORIES: AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PERSONAL ACCOUNTS #995 "Unpolished but honest account of the Meuse-Argonne offensive, with some striking depictions of combat."}.…
